Wales flyhalf Gareth Anscombe has been ruled out of the World Cup with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The pivot sustained the knee injury towards the end of the first quarter of Sunday’s match against England at Twickenham, yet stayed on until the 34th minute when he was helped off.

The 28-year-old New Zealander played a vital role in Wales’ Grand Slam win earlier this year, dovetailing well with Dan Biggar.
