Western Province hooker Scarra Ntubeni has apologised for an incident involving a ball boy during their Currie Cup match against the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
WP were leading 33-19 after 50 minutes when the ball boy went up to Ntubeni to give him a ball to throw into the lineout. Instead of taking it, the hooker slapped it out of the ball boy’s hands.

Ntubeni apologised to Giovanni Fourie, a pupil at Grey College, and his parents after the game and arranged to meet with him on Sunday morning when he apologised again and gave him a Western Province jersey.
‘So last night I did something totally out of character and I take all the criticisms coming my way,’ the hooker wrote on Facebook.
‘I apologise to everyone who I disappointed, everyone who supports me and most importantly Giovanni.’
