Saffa centre hails 'my fighter, my little warrior'

San Diego Legion centre JP du Plessis posted a heartfelt message after holding his son for the first time.

Luke-Muller was born in San Diego, USA, on 10 February, weighing just under 5kg. He spent his first few days in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as he swallowed an immense amount of amniotic fluid.

'My first time holding him skin to skin, I can't even explain the feeling,' said Du Plessis, who had stints with the Stormers, Cheetahs and Kings.

'My fighter, my little warrior, Luke-Muller, what a journey you and God have already walked my little man. From your first pregnancy scan at 13 weeks, God has been working miracles through you, and again at your birth.

'We are so happy you are perfectly fine now. You are one special boy, and He has such a powerful journey planned for you, all we can do is raise you close to Him and enjoy it with you.'

The 28-year-old said he was 'amazed' by the strength of his wife, Chloe.

'I cannot imagine what you as a mother must've gone through, and are still going through until he comes home to us. You stand behind me in faith every day despite how you must be feeling, you really are a powerful woman of God. Thank you.'

My first time holding him skin to skin, I can't even explain the feeling ? My fighter, my little warrior, Luke-Muller, what a journey you and God have already walked my little man. From your first pregnancy scan at 13 weeks, God has been working miracles through you, and again at your birth. We are so happy you are perfectly fine now. You are one special boy, and He has such a powerful journey planned for you, all we can do is raise you close to Him and enjoyed it with you. To my Chlo, you really amazed me with your strength. I can not imagine what you as a mother must've gone through, and am still going through until he comes home to us. You stand behind me in faith every day despite how you must be feeling, you really are a powerful woman of God. Thank you! I want to thank every single person who prayed for us, fasted with us, supported us through messages and phone calls and those who had us in their thoughts. We are really humbled by everyone's overwhelming love and support. Our close family and friends, you were rock solid in faith with us through this time. We are so lucky to have all of you. We thank you and love each one of you! Then ultimately, to my Jesus, I want to thank You, For the first time in my life, I was forced to lie at your feet. For the first time I felt completely out of control and had no choice but to turn to you and beg. For the first time, I gave family to you completely. This whole journey and story of my boy is a testimony of your love, grace and healing power. When we needed you most, you wrapped us, carried us, love us and promised us he will be more than ok. May I never doubt you again ? Thank You.
