Flank LUKE STRINGER tells RugbyRocks.com about his new French club and what he will miss about being at the Sharks.
I will be playing for Montauban, a Pro D2 club which is situated just outside Toulouse.
I want to make an immense impact at the club, on and off the field, perform consistently and hopefully be part of a team that takes Montauban back to the Top 14.
I've heard Montauban has some of the most amazingly passionate fans in France, who are die-hard supporters of the team, so I can’t wait to experience that!
I will miss my family at the Sharks, though, including players, management, medical staff and administration.
The friends I’ve made at the Sharks since arriving in 2018 have been the biggest blessing. I can’t put into words how positively these people have impacted my life and I’ll forever be grateful for that.
Playing in the 2018 Currie Cup final at Newlands, which we won, was a huge moment for so many reasons. That Sharks team will forever be in my heart.
I will also miss spending quality time with family and friends, who've played a huge role in the person I’ve become.
The first thing I will do when I get to France is to Facetime my mother to let her know I'm safe and I love her!
I’m looking forward to exploring the beautiful countryside for which Montauban is renowned.
I can’t wait to travel to neighbouring countries like Spain, Italy and Switzerland, which has always been a dream of mine.
I want to learn to speak French fluently, but this will take a while. And I’d like to attend the Cannes Film Festival, so if anyone has connections, please let me know!
