World Cup-winning Springbok prop Beast Mtawarira took part in a Mud Run for charity in Harare last Saturday. He tells RugbyRocks.com more about it.

Mtawarira is a brand ambassador for Husqvarna Group (a worldwide company that does a lot of environmental awareness), which sponsored the event.

The run was held at The Jam Tree bar and restaurant in support of kids with cancer.

‘About 3,000 to 4,000 people took part in a fun race which was just over 2km,’ Mtawarira told RugbyRocks.com. ‘You pace yourself and begin the race with hopes of winning it but end up getting covered in mud!

‘Unfortunately, I didn’t win as several people took selfies with me along the way and I also did a couple of interviews,’ he added with a laugh.

‘I’ve always liked doing things for a great cause, so I’m glad I participated in the race. It was a great event and I loved every minute of it.’
