Winter comes early to Bulls

Russell Winter has been appointed as the Bulls forwards coach on a three-year deal.

As a loose forward, Winter played for the Lions, Cats, Sharks, South Africa A and Newcastle Falcons. He also represented the Blitzboks.

After hanging up his boots, Winter returned to the Lions in 2011 to coach their Vodacom Cup and U21 teams, before becoming forwards coach of the Stormers and Western Province in 2016.

Winter has a long relationship with Bulls director of rugby Jake White, dating back to Jeppe High School for Boys.

'I watched Russell go from strength to strength as a player and continued to watch him grow as a coach,' said White. 'We've spoken at length about his role within the Bulls and he is eager to get started with the forwards as soon as we can train again.'

Russell said: 'The Bulls have always been a special team that have enjoyed success at the highest level. I'm excited to be part of this Bulls family that shares so many values that I hold dear.

'I look forward to doing everything in my power to assist in making the Bulls a team that not only produces the results on the field, but also goes above and beyond in making our supporters proud.'
