Watch: 'That was the moment my life was saved'

Referee Nigel Owens reveals the words from his mother that saved his life.

When Owens was 26 and struggling to come to terms with the fact he was gay, he took paracetamol and a bottle of whisky and walked to the top of a local mountain with a loaded shotgun, fully intending to kill himself.

When found by a police helicopter, Owens had suffered an overdose and fallen into a coma. The shotgun was resting on his chest, pointed at his chin.

The now 48-year-old spoke candidly about the incident during House of Rugby's latest podcast.
