KIRSTEN GRANT tells RugbyRocks.com how Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx popped the question.
Malcolm and I were high school sweethearts. He played rugby with my brother which is how we met.
Malcolm proposed at Kilima Private Game Reserve and Spa in Limpopo last Friday, exactly 10 years after he had first asked me out.
It was absolutely breathtaking.
He told me we were going for dinner but would first have a helicopter ride over the beautiful game farms in the area. We stopped on a massive mountain in the middle of nowhere, where we had champagne and snacks.
As he proposed, my family flew over in another helicopter and were screaming and waving (Malcolm had booked out the whole of Kilima so our family and best friends could spend the weekend with us).
I'm not sure how Malcolm kept the proposal a secret for so long as he doesn't usually have a great poker face.
He really did surprise me and the fact that my family was involved made it even more special.
The next day, we were spoilt with a bush breakfast, a private lunch cooked by Kilima's amazing chef, and spa treatments. The Kilima staff went out of their way to personalise our experience.
They broke the mould when Malcolm was made. He is the epitome of a gentleman.
His best attribute is his ability to put others' happiness before his own. He is completely selfless and loves others unconditionally.
I could list a million other things about him, but I'll have to keep that for the vows!
